    This is where we will announce the most recent additions to our web site. If you've visited us before and want to know what has changed, please read the items listed below:

 

1. Visit our new Hearing Aid & Implant Center at The Ear Center!

3 Methicillin Resistant Staph Aureus (ca-MRSA) infection:  Learn about MRSA & ca-MRSA infections and how you can help to protect you and your family.

4. Medication Instructions Prior to Your Operation:   Many patients have questions about: (1) whether they should stop taking some of their medications prior to having an operation and (2) which medications to take early in the morning of the day of their operation. We have added a new section to help answer your questions on how to best manage your current medications both prior to and on the day of your operation.

5. Superior Semi-Circular Canal Dehiscence Syndrome:  Check out our new page concerning Superior Semi-Circular Canal Dehiscence Syndrome, a newly appreciated ear disorder.

6 Intracranial Hypertension: Under our "Patient Education" category, we have added a new section concerning Intracranial Hypertension, one cause of pulsatile ear ringing (pulsatile tinnitus).

7.  Migraine-Related Vertigo: A new page has been added to explain this intriguing condition - one cause of episodic vertigo.

8.  Otosclerosis and Stapedectomy: A new page has been added concerning Otosclerosis, a cause of conductive hearing loss, and Stapedectomy.

9.  Visit our "Links" page to download information from the Exceptional Children's Parent Advisory Council of Guilford County.  Now available are: (1) the Directory of Community Agencies, (2) Frequently Asked EC Questions, and (3) a Guide to Frequently Used Educational Terms and Acronyms.

10. Connexin 26: Read our new page concerning Connexin 26 and genetic testing for hearing loss.

11. BAHA Warranty Information:  Review the latest information concerning the standard BAHA processor warranty and two new available extended warranty options.

12. Noise, Hearing Loss & Hearing Protection: A new page to explain the effects of noise on hearing and provide information concerning how to protect your hearing from noise and loud sounds. Included are two tables of common loudness levels for common activities and a wide range of musical instruments, including the I-Pod.

13. Edulink: Visit our new page, Edulink, to learn more about the new, inconspicuous wireless FM device from Phonak to help children with Performance Deficits learn better in the classroom.

14. Down Syndrome References: A comprehensive list of books, journal articles, publications, and computer information/software has been added to help parents locate up-to-date information concerning medical topics important in Down Syndrome.

15. Cochlear Implant Service & Accessories: retrieve information concerning: (1) cochlear implant service, (2) how to contact Advanced Bionics Corporation, and (3) the phone numbers for ordering cochlear implant accessories.

16. New BAHA Intenso Digital Sound Processor: Learn about the BAHA Intenso sound processor is able to provide more gain for patients with substantial conductive or mixed hearing losses or Single Sided Deafness (SSD).

17.  "Guilford County Resources for Exceptional Children" Book by Stephanie Antkowiak :  The GC Resources for Exceptional Children book is now available on our LINKS page, with permission of the Guilford County School System and Stephanie Antkowiak, the author.  You may download individual sections or the entire book in Adobe .pdf format.

18. Head Circumference Growth Charts for boys and girls with Down Syndrome: Head circumference growth charts for boys and girls with Down Syndrome are now available to download in .PDF format on our Down Syndrome page.

19.  Dr. Su Wooi Teoh joined our medical staff on July 2, 2007!

20. Acoustic Neuroma: A new patient education page has been added explaining the diagnosis and treatment of acoustic neuroma.

21. Noisy Toys: We have added this new section to alert you to noisy toys that could harm your child's hearing.

22. Envoy Esteem Clinical Trial Information: new pages have been added for patients considering participation in the 2008 Envoy Esteem II Clinical Research Trial.

23. Naida & Naida Junior BTE Hearing Aids from Phonak -  The new Phonak Naida and Naida Junior ultra power hearing aids are now available.  Click here for more information.

24. Dr. John C. Mundy retired from the practice of Otolaryngology on February 29, 2008.

25. New MP3 player Earphones and Headphones available to limit music player volumes and help protect your children's hearing.  Click here to for more information.

26. Beginning December 1, 2008, the Ear Center of Greensboro, P.A. will be participating with Aetna Insurance.
