Surgeons' Stations
Our four surgeons' stations are clustered together to facilitate individual training. Custom built cabinetry by Global provides a
comfortable, efficient workspace simulating operating room conditions. LCD observer panels connected to microscope mounted video cams provide real time microscopic images to facilitate communication and instruction. Water, suction and electric drills are conveniently located. All electrical equipment is operated by a single on-off switch (microscope light source, LCD panel, and drill).
Station #1 is equipped with a switching panel that allows the instructor to view the microscopic image from any of the other three microscopes or display the image from Station #1 on any of the other three LCD panels.
Individual Surgeon's Station
Each surgeon's work station is fully equipped with an OR microscope with video cam, LCD panel display, instruments, electric drill, suction, and irrigation. Side drawers contain a complete, assigned instrument set. The top drawer contains a sliding shelf to provide extra work surface area. All drawers lock with one key for added security. A second temporal bone holder and laser goggles are provided. Beneath the temporal bone holder platform is a sink to facilitate irrigation run-off.
Surgeons' Lockers
Each surgeon is assigned a lockable, individual locker to store personal belongings during the training course. OR gowns, gloves, surgeon's caps, and shoe covers are provided for personal protection.
Laser Doppler Vibrometry Station
A Zeiss OPMI-1 wall mounted microscope with an enhanced light source for middle ear procedures is installed. The microscope is coupled with a laser doppler vibrometer for measuring frequency response measurements, 200 to 8000 Hz, of ossicular motion in nanometers of displacement. A flat panel LCD monitor has been added to enhance learning and provide
instruction.
